Heartbreak as a second victim is named following a deadly incident in Coventry
On Sunday, Leo Moran was killed in a horrific collision on Gosford Street.

A bereaved family paid homage to their ‘wonderful’ son who died in a car accident in Coventry. On September 3, Leo Moran was one of two persons killed after they were hit by the same car.

Mr Moran, 44, was killed after being hit by a car on Gosford Street. He died shortly after the fatal collision, which occurred approximately 8 a.m.

His family said in a statement today that the 44-year-old offered ‘joy and happiness to everyone.’ Following the tragedy, officers from West Midlands Police were assisting his loved ones.

“We are completely heartbroken at the loss of Leo, who was taken from us so soon,” the family wrote in a statement. Leo was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend to many; he brought so much joy and laughter into all of our lives.

“We are now giving the police time to provide us with the answers we need to understand how and why this occurred.”

Cyclist Joel Carriedo was also killed after being hit by the same vehicle on Woodway Lane. A 33-year-old man was detained on suspicion of two charges of murder and has subsequently been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

“We are not looking for anyone else in connection with what happened, and from the information we have, this is not being treated as a terror-related incident,” said a spokeswoman for West Midlands Police.
