Alisha Lehmann gave Rachel Daly a one-word message following Aston Villa Women’s 5-0 victory over Sheffield United.

In the FA Women’s Super League (WSL) Cup encounter between the two clubs on Wednesday, November 8, forward Daly scored a hat-trick. The club’s first victory of the season came from the Group A match, which also saw goals from Ebony Salmon and Danielle Turner.

Daly wrote on Instagram, “One step at a time,” in celebration of the three goals and the 5-0 win.

Lehmann, Daly’s colleague at Aston Villa Women, was one of the people who left a remark on the social media post, writing, “Ninjaaaaaa.”
Given how poorly Aston Villa Women have performed so far this season, they really needed to step it up against the Blades.

Turner scored the 4th goal after Rachels hattrick

The team has dropped its first five WSL games against Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham. Villa’s return to action has been brutal, as they now sit at the bottom of the table with zero points.

However, the cup match against Sheffield United gave the players a much-needed reprieve from the WSL and gave them some much-needed confidence. And considering that they were able to record a clean sheet in addition to scoring five goals, that is precisely what they obtained.

Daly, the attacker, was on fire that evening, scoring three goals before receiving a well-earned respite on the bench. She will be eager to keep up her scoring ways in the remaining cup matches, as Villa’s Group A opponents include Durham, Sunderland, and Blackburn Rovers.
