Midfielder Ebereche Eze and Crystal Palace are rumored to have reached a verbal agreement in principle on a new deal.

There have been rumors of talks about a new deal for several weeks now, and it seems like progress has been made.

Eze was a standout player for Palace last season, leading the team in scoring with ten Premier League goals at the end of the campaign.

The 25-year-old, who arrived from nearby London team Queen’s Park Rangers in 2020, just crossed the 100-appearance milestone while sporting the blue and red colors of Palace.

The manager of England, Gareth Southgate, has also expressed gratitude for Eze’s performance at Palace. In June, Eze made his senior debut against Malta.

Eze was not included in the squad that confirmed England’s spot at Euro 2024 last month, despite having played in the friendly match against Scotland during September’s internationals.

The Daily Mail believes that further good news is on the way for Palace, as an agreement has been reached for Eze to extend his contract with the club, with only formalities left to finish. This comes after Eze recently made a full recovery from that injury.

A new contract is expected to deter potential bidders like Manchester City and Newcastle United, who have recently been linked to the England international.

Eze’s current contract with the Eagles expires in just 18 months, but a new one will give Palace more clout in the transfer market should any teams show interest.

With this new contract, Eze is expected to receive approximately £100,000 per week as compensation for his achievements.

Eze is expected to remain with the team through the summer at the latest, however it is presently unknown if the agreement contains a release provision.

Eze recovered from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for a month during the weekend against Burnley. When Everton visits Selhurst Park on Saturday, he might start for the first time since the victory over Manchester United on September 27.

Eze made a brief appearance off the bench for 30 minutes, helping left-back Tyrick Mitchell score the game-winning goal that gave Palace a 2-0 victory at Turf Moor.

Eze, who also set up Joachim Andersen for the winning goal at Old Trafford, recorded his second Premier League assist of the year with that assist.
