Ange Postecoglou intends to bring a defensive midfielder and a center-back to Tottenham in January, according to Football Insider.

According to the source, the manager of Spurs wants to add two excellent players to the team in the winter to offer his team the best opportunity to compete with teams like Manchester City.

Spurs want a centre-back and a defensive midfielder

The Lilywhites are said to have a number six on their top priority list, especially because they will be losing Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma to the African Cup of Nations in the early months of next year.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, meanwhile, might possibly be departing the club after nearly doing so in the summer.

According to the outlet, Postecoglou is also focused on bolstering his center-back position since he wants to sign a top player to challenge Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero for a starting position.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham will undoubtedly recruit a center back in January, but whether they make a bid for a defensive midfield player will depend on if Hojbjerg departs.

If the 28-year-old is willing to stay, I don’t think Postecoglou would mind keeping the Dane on the squad until the end of the campaign. The injury to Ivan Perisic will probably make the Australian want to bring a winger through the door as well.
