“A breath of fresh air” – Player seemed relieved to be away from Everton for a short period of time on international duty.

Manchester United's midfielder search goes on! Red Devils turn to Everton's Amadou Onana - but it will take big money to land him | Goal.com US

Amadou Onana went one-on-one with members of the media after his news conference, where he was asked whether he should have left Everton this summer.

One of the venues he spoke with was RTL Info, one of the country’s largest radio stations, where he addressed a few themes.

With Everton’s Premier League situation now somewhat bad, there is a lot of pressure surrounding the Goodison Park club these days, and the break will allow everyone to step back, examine the situation, and return clear minded.

That’s something Onana will aim to do after expressing his delight at rejoining the Belgium squad.
“It’s a breath of fresh air,” he stated. It’s a change of scenery that allows you to see something new. I’m also glad to see my buddies because I wasn’t here for the last group. It’s wonderful to have found this shirt again.”

While he is clearly thrilled to be at Everton as a player and to be playing in the Premier League on a weekly basis, it is evident that everything now surrounding the club isn’t always sunshine and rainbows.

As a result, it’s understandable that a break can be beneficial to players, even if there’s little reason to tell the press about it.

After summer transfer window rumours, Amadou Onana breaks his silence on Everton’s future.

Amadou Onana maintains he is “fully focused” on Everton after being linked with a move away from Goodison Park this summer.

The midfielder has been with the Blues for just over a year after joining from Lille in a £33.5million deal in August 2022, but after attracting admiring glances from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea during the January transfer window – prompting him to declare: “I ain’t f****** going nowhere” when filmed going down the Goodison Park tunnel following Sean Dyche’s first game in charge – more rumours

With Everton one goal away from relegation for the first time in 72 years, having posted the lowest equivalent points total in the club’s 135-year history in the Football League/Premier League, and funds tight, Todd Boehly’s free-spending Stamford Bridge outfit, as well as Manchester United, were touted as potential suitors. However, the 22-year-old, who has become a fan favorite among Blues fans, confirmed his settled status on Merseyside.

Onana told Le Soir – via Sport Witness – while traveling with Belgium ahead of their European Championship qualifier in Azerbaijan on Saturday: “It’s not at all a missed opportunity.”
