A demonstration against Reading FC owner Dai Yongge was organized by hundreds of supporters of the team. Before the team’s Saturday game against Portsmouth, supporters marched from Reading’s downtown to the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

They want the Chinese entrepreneur to sell the squad since the team lost points as a result of late payroll payments. MPs Matt Rodda and James Sunderland, as well as former Reading player Dave Kitson, participated in the protest.

Football misconduct charges have been brought against Mr. Dai for not depositing enough money to cover the club’s salary. The League One team has also been subjected to transfer embargoes, with the most recent one imposed just last month due to an unsettled tax bill.

The demonstration was orchestrated by a group called “Sell Before We Dai,” which contends that the club’s future is in jeopardy. Fans had previously displayed their discontent by throwing tennis balls onto the pitch to disrupt home games.

Spokesperson Nick Houlton, representing the campaign group, stated, “Reading FC is in a dire situation. We’ve reached our limit. We want him removed. We want our club restored to us.”

The club has been contacted for a response.

On October 12, Reading FC confirmed that it had received inquiries from “several interested parties” about acquiring the club. The club stated that these inquiries were being evaluated individually to identify the most suitable buyer for ensuring the club’s prosperous future.
