Cesare Casadei believes Leicester City’s 1-0 triumph over Sunderland on Tuesday demonstrated their ability to adapt to varied playing styles.

The Foxes have frequently faced deep-lying defenses at King Power Stadium this season, but the Black Cats adopted a more expansive and aggressive approach on Filbert Way. Nonetheless, James Justin’s header secured Leicester City’s 12th victory in 13 matches on Tuesday.

This win extends their lead at the top of the Sky Bet Championship to eight points and maintains their record-breaking start to the new season. Speaking after the game, Casadei expressed his delight with Leicester’s resilience.

“It was an incredible match,” the Italian stated. “We proved that we can withstand pressure during the game, so it was a significant victory for us. It was a different type of game. They were highly aggressive, but we demonstrated our ability to endure, and today, everyone put in a tremendous effort, so we’re thrilled.”

Casadei was voted Player of the Match by the fans on X (formerly Twitter), and he was pleased to contribute to a memorable evening. He also emphasized the collective effort that carried them to victory against Tony Mowbray’s team.

“I always strive to give my best, but I believe I can do even better,” he added. “I aim to continuously improve in every game, that’s my goal.

“When we need to defend, we must do so as a team. And that’s what we did. We worked tirelessly in midfield and all over the pitch.

“It was a tremendous team effort, and we’re genuinely pleased because it demonstrates our strength as a team, even when facing an aggressive opponent.”
