While Jon Newsome acknowledges that Georginio Rutter, a great player for Leeds United, can be brilliant and annoying at the same time, he is pleased to see the forward developing this season.

The 21-year-old has netted twice and provided four assists in eleven Championship outings this season. His performance was pivotal in Leeds’ comeback victory of 3-2 against Norwich last Saturday, where he also recorded an assist to secure the team’s victory.

Newsome acknowledged Rutter’s capacity to alternate between producing exceptional moments and making occasional errors on the field. The former Leeds star confessed that he couldn’t recognize the player’s potential last season but is delighted to witness his growth as a footballer in the current campaign.

Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds, the former Whites player stated, “He’s one of those players who can deliver both moments of brilliance and moments of baffling mistakes. “At times, he can be incredibly frustrating, while at others, he has you on your feet applauding. It’s fantastic to see him developing.

“The lad faced challenges at the start of his career. Last season, I was skeptical about his potential as a player, but he has now found his footing and is learning the game.”

Under Daniel Farke’s management, Rutter has been a regular starter and will be aiming to secure a spot in the lineup when Leeds face Stoke City on Wednesday night.
