Alex Pritchard
In the summer, he was on the verge of quitting the club, but no one made him a good offer. But that might alter in January, particularly if he keeps making an impression in red and white. Pritchard hasn’t squandered the opportunities this term, but he will turn 31 in March of next year and isn’t guaranteed playing time.
Patrick Roberts
With regard to the gifted Roberts, Sunderland may have to make a significant choice in January. His skill is undeniable, but the Black Cats have a wealth of offensive alternatives at their disposal. After a run of substitute appearances, he has just reclaimed his spot in the starting lineup and, at just 26, still has many years ahead of him.
Bradley Dack
Dack signed a one-year contract in August after joining from Blackburn Rovers, but he has the option to sign a two-year one. Naturally, Tony Mowbray is a huge fan, and the 29-year-old has demonstrated flashes of his potential prior to an injury keeping him out of action recently. The extend clause on this one releases some of the pressure.

Ellis Taylor
The academy graduate’s contract expires in the summer of next year, and he has only made a few cup appearances for the team thus far. However, he saw limited action throughout the previous season, was once more benched for the Championship match against Southampton, and might eventually make his league debut.
For the 20-year-old, this is a crucial season as he tries to establish his ability to play championship football and secure a new contract.
Mason Burstow
The Chelsea forward on loan will play his entire season at Sunderland before making his way back to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
Corry Evans
Since Sunderland’s victory over Middlesbrough back in January, Evans has not played due to a cruciate ligament injury. With players like Dan Neil and Pierre Ekwah stepping up, the Black Cats have managed to survive without him. Evans, who is 33, will want to demonstrate his fitness as quickly as possible. He does, however, have the option to extend his current contract for an additional year.
