OLLIE PALMER praised a successful week of work as Wrexham went undefeated in three challenging League Two games.

The team of Phil Parkinson drew 3-3 with Crewe Alexandra at home before traveling to Mansfield and Crawley. Following a tough 1-0 victory against Crawley on Saturday at The Broadfield Stadium, a scoreless draw against league-unbeaten Mansfield was played.

Andy Cannon was given a straight red card after Ryan Barnett was dismissed against Crewe, leaving Wrexham with 10 men for the second time in three games. Despite this, the Reds held on to win and move up to seventh place in the standings, four points behind Notts County.

All three opponents are in the top eight and Palmer praised his team-mates for their efforts. “We played against three teams in the play-offs and two of them with 10 men,” said the striker. “Three games in seven days and it was a great win at Crawley on tired legs. “It was hard-fought against Crewe and it was a hard-fought against Mansfield so I am really pleased. “It was a hard seven days, I felt shattered out there against Crawley and I know the rest of the lads did as well. “But it was good to finish off with three points, everyone worked really hard.”

In the 13th minute against Crawley, Palmer scored what would end up being the game-winning goal by deftly controlling James McClean’s cross and volleying it home. Although it was his third goal of the year, Palmer downplayed his magnificent shot.

“I know James is always going to get a ball into the box,” said Palmer.

“It is just gambling on it – front post, back post – and it was another good ball.

“I made the run and knew what was coming.

“I don’t want to big myself up too much, it was a good cross and a good goal.

“More importantly, it was a really good win.”
