After meeting Trent Alexander-Arnold for England duty on Monday, James Maddison wasted no time in firing a cheeky jab at the Liverpool star following their contentious defeat to Tottenham.

During a recent England national team gathering, James Maddison and Trent Alexander-Arnold found themselves in the spotlight for their involvement in Liverpool’s controversial match against Tottenham. The game, marred by refereeing errors, saw Liverpool lose 2-1, leading to calls from Reds boss Jurgen Klopp for a replay.

However, the Premier League stood firm in support of Tottenham’s victory, rendering Klopp’s appeals futile. Maddison couldn’t resist poking fun at his fellow international teammate, Alexander-Arnold, over the replay requests.

Trent is considered one of Liverpools Midfield maestros

As the two players met at St George’s Park during the international break, Maddison shared a photo on his Instagram story, showing him looking up at Alexander-Arnold, accompanied by the caption “Still asking for a replay.”

Maddison’s light-hearted dig comes in the midst of his own impressive form, which has helped propel Tottenham to the top of the league table. While Maddison hopes for significant game time in upcoming matches, Klopp remains adamant that Liverpool was unjustly denied at least a point in the contentious clash.

Reflecting on the incident a few days after the PGMOL’s apology, Klopp expressed his belief that a replay would be the right course of action, although he acknowledged that it was unlikely to occur. Klopp emphasized that the officials’ errors were not intentional and that an unprecedented situation warranted a reconsideration of the match’s outcome.
