Newcastle United are now in their best vein of form in the Big Smoke ever

After turning around a lackluster start to the season, Newcastle United is now unbeaten in seven games across all competitions.

The best unbeaten streak for United last season was 15 games in all competitions, starting with a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace in early September and ending with a 2-1 loss on the road against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup in January. If his club can pull off this feat, it will have a significant impact on their season in the Premier League, Champions League, and Carabao Cup, something Eddie Howe would want to see happen.

It appeared that weariness and the Hammers’ current reputation as tough opponents were to blame for Newcastle’s inability to secure the three points at West Ham. Even though Newcastle defeated them 5-1 last season when they caught them on a bad day, playing the champions of the Europa Conference League was never going to be simple.

Eddie Howe well and truly kills off Newcastle’s fear of playing in London

Newcastle once avoided playing London teams by traveling to the city. In fact, from 1997 and 2001, the Magpies went FOUR years without a victory!

However, under Howe, Newcastle actually ups their game these days while going south. The Magpies’ greatest EVER undefeated streak in league history in the Big Smoke now stands at four draws and four victories following the match on Sunday at the London Stadium.

When Newcastle plays Tottenham Hotspur in December, they will have the chance to increase that even more.

Kieran Trippier is Newcastle’s assist master

Trippier arrived at the London Stadium prepared for action and once more delivered while wearing a Newcastle jersey by providing another assist. He departed the West Ham stadium wearing an England tracksuit and prepared to shift his attention to the Three Lions’ next international matches against Australia and Italy.

He is truly an exceptional talent and an integral part of how modern day Newcastle have gone from Premier League strugglers to European contenders. Trippier’s volleyed cross for Alexander Isak was one of the assists of the weekend in the top-flight.

It also took him to five assists for the season with the full-back not only a threat from set-pieces but also lethal in open play. Along with Pedro Neto and James Maddison, nobody has more assists than Trippier’s five so far this season.

Newcastle have made some big money signings since the takeover but the £12million spent on Trippier from Atletico Madrid is one of the best pound for pound signings in Toon history. You shudder to think where United would be without him.
