Latest Leicester City news as Andy King posts an emotional message to the club and their supporters after returning to the King Power Stadium with Bristol City on Saturday
Andy King, a legendary member of Leicester City, has remarked that the welcome he received upon returning to the King Power Stadium will “live with me forever.” King was the first and only player to win the League One, Championship, and Premier League championships with the same club. He spent 16 years with the club and made over 375 first team appearances.
He made a comeback on Saturday, playing for Nigel Pearson’s Bristol City team in their 1-0 loss thanks to a Jamie Vardy penalty.
Aside from the action on the pitch, it was an emotional return for King, Pearson, Matty James and Dave Rennie. King was widely cheered and applauded when he ran out to warm up in front of the West Stand and Family Stand, receiving an ovation of the ‘King, King, Andy Andy King’ chant that has echoed around the stadium so many times before. There was a similar reception as he applauded the home fans after the match.
Taking to social media platform X after the match, King said his feelings in those moments will stay with him forever, and that words “cannot do justice” the reception he received and how it made him feel. The 34-year-old was visible tearful at the King Power Stadium.
