Fabrizio Romano reveals Leeds Utd medical today for shock late window signing; Phil Hay explains why Sinisterra sale was necessary

Leeds United signed Jaidon Anthony late in the transfer window, with the winger joining Bournemouth in exchange for Luis Sinisterra, although the agreement is still subject to a physical, according to Fabrizio Romano.

With another crazy deadline day, the Whites finished an incredible summer window at Elland Road. Following the departures of numerous members of last season’s team, many of whom were on loan, Leeds manager Daniel Farke expressed optimism on Friday lunchtime that the club may survive deadline day without any further major departures.

However, only minutes after his press conference, it was announced that star Colombian winger Sinisterra was travelling to Bournemouth for a medical.

Many Leeds fans considered the former Feyenoord star as a major figure in the club’s bid to return to the Premier League. As a result, his loan to Bournemouth for a season will be viewed as a big blow by many.

However, Leeds were determined not to give up too much ground and only agreed to the sale after asking Bournemouth for winger Anthony in exchange.

The 23-year-old Arsenal youth graduate joins West Yorkshire on a season-long loan.

While the documentation for his signing and Sinisterra’s departure from the Vitality Stadium arrived shortly before the 11 p.m. deadline, confirmation of the contract did not arrive until approximately 11.30 p.m.

However, it has now been revealed that Leeds have agreed to sign Anthony without first conducting a medical. When news of Leeds’ interest leaked, the player was in a hotel with the rest of his Cherries colleagues, preparing for Saturday’s encounter at Brentford.

Leeds agreements involving Jaidon Anthony and Luis Sinisterra are revealed.
While the right-footed left winger was eager to join Leeds, he was signed before he could undergo the required physical tests.

As a result, Anthony will travel to West Yorkshire later today, according to trusted journalist Romano. If all goes as planned, Leeds will complete his signing and the player will be able to watch the club’s Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday from the stands at Elland Road.

“Jaidon Anthony will travel to Leeds later today after documents are signed before the window closes,” Romano said on X.

“Season-long loan from Bournemouth, sealed in the final hours.”

It remains to be known whether Sinisterra will ever play for Leeds United again.

Supporters are notoriously merciless once a player expresses his desire to go, and it remains to be seen what will happen next summer if Leeds do return to the Premier League.

His move to Bournemouth was approved despite the fact that a release clause in his contract was set to expire in mid-August.

According to The Athletic’s Phil Hay, Leeds were anxious that preventing his departure would end in another lengthy legal battle. After preventing Nice from signing the player before his clause expired, there looked to be a risk that Sinisterra and his representative might sue Leeds.

After being stung by a lengthy court case saga surrounding Jean-Kevin Augustin, which resulted in Leeds having to pay £24.5m for breaching the transfer requirements, Leeds felt obligated to allow Sinisterra depart.

Leeds, on the other hand, have learned their lesson, with manager Daniel Farke making it clear that no player signed under his watch will be permitted to sign with such release clauses in their contracts.
