The most recent Nottingham Forest news comes after the Reds’ reported interest in the Leicester City player during the summer transfer window.

Despite being strongly linked with a move to Nottingham Forest this summer, Wilfred Ndidi has stated that he was not close to leaving Leicester City.

The Reds were reportedly close to signing the Nigerian international in the closing days of the transfer season. It was stated that the player was eager to move and that Forest had made their opening offer.

However, Forest completed a deadline-day deal for Ibrahim Sangare, who made his club debut in Monday night’s 1-1 draw with Burnley, therefore that deal never happened. Ndidi is still playing for Leicester, but under new boss Enzo Maresca, he is taking on a more forward role.

The 26-year-old has played in each of the Foxes’ games so far this season and scored a goal in last Friday’s 4-1 victory over Southampton. Ndidi has finally addressed the rumors that he wants to leave Leicester, claiming that the talk of a possible transfer made him “laugh.”

When asked if he ever considered leaving the club in the summer, he replied, “To be honest, no,” according to the When You’re Smiling Podcast on BBC Radio Leicester. “I simply feel like it’s something I can truly learn from, because when he (Maresca) came, he tried to explain his philosophy and also the simplicity of the game.

“I’ve been willing to try and understand more about his mindset and his playing technique, and so far it’s been successful. I’m glad to be here.

“I didn’t want to go at any point. When I saw the news, I would occasionally just chuckle because it wasn’t true.

Leicester has had Ndidi since the beginning of 2016. However, he only has a little more than a year left on his deal with the team.
