Next Stoke City manager: The Potters are apparently closing in on their preferred candidate According to reports, Stoke City wants to appoint a new manager as soon as possible following the dismissal of Steven Schumacher.

After a 1-0 loss to Oxford United over the weekend, the Potters fired Schumacher just five games into the current Championship campaign. Sporting director Jon Walters confirmed the decision on Monday. He stated that the team required a “clear vision” of how to succeed and that the club intended to make an announcement about a “new appointment” soon.

Last season, Schumacher took over for Alex Neil, the former Sunderland manager, and the Potters avoided relegation. Despite having a mediocre start to the current season, they are currently 13th in the standings after winning two of their first five games. In the reorganisation, four backroom employees have also left the club.

Early chatter had suggested that former Sunderland bosses Tony Mowbray and Michael Beale could be in the running to take the job. However, Stoke City appears to be moving in a different direction.

According to John Percy of The Telegraph, Stoke City is acting swiftly following Steven Schumacher’s resignation. Stoke has been granted permission by Norwich to discuss the position with first-team coach Narcis Pélach.

If things go well, Pélach hopes to sign GK coach Paul Clements. “Narcis Pelach is being lined up to become the new head coach at Stoke City,” says Stoke Live. Following Steven Schumacher’s departure from the squad this morning, the Potters are working rapidly to find a replacement. They are already in negotiations with Norwich, a Championship competitor, to find their first team coach for the significant role at the bet365 Stadium.
