The training regimen for West Ham has allegedly undergone a significant alteration under Julen Lopetegui.

A football team experiences changes beyond only the style of play when a new manager takes over. This summer, West Ham has undergone a complete transformation in all aspects of its operations, including hiring, coaching, and player attitudes, in addition to the addition of nine new players.

However, it seems like Julen Lopetegui isn’t completely satisfied with how things are going following his first four games in charge of the club.

While the Hammers had some extremely difficult fixtures, it’s clear that they still need time to fully adapt to life under the Spaniard. In order to make this transition go smoothly, The Athletic reports that he has decided to cut the amount of days off the players received. He hopes that this will not only improve his side’s ability, but also their work ethic.

Obviously this brings an increased chance of injury as well as fatigue but with the Irons having no European football this season it is a move that makes a lot of sense.

Although work ethic isn’t something many fans would have complained about under David Moyes, in fact it’s probably the one thing you can’t criticise the players on during the second-half of last season, it can never hurt to have more.

Hopefully, this change will be exactly what the players need in order to kickstart the new era of West Ham United.
