If Man City wants to sign Adam Wharton, a midfielder for Crystal Palace, they would have to defeat Liverpool, their Premier League opponents.

The Daily Mail claims that Man City is considering signing the 20-year-old England international because they are unsure of what will happen to current midfield general Rodri.

As the competition for his signature heats up, Liverpool, their title rivals, are also keeping an eye on him.

Real Madrid is reportedly interested in bringing Rodri back to their home country of Spain, according to Duncan Castles, who has been linked to the Champions League winners.

Rodri is currently in his sixth season with Pep Guardiola’s side and has proved to be an integral part since joining back in 2019, making 257 appearances for the Manchester club.

Football Insider understands Liverpool are in the market for a number six in January after failing to sign a player in that position in the summer.

Man City and Liverpool target Adam Wharton

Wharton had a break-out season at Crystal Palace last campaign following his move from boyhood club Blackburn Rovers in January.

Solid central midfield displays across 16 Premier League appearances for the club earned him a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad.

Even though Wharton didn’t play a single minute in the international competition, the Premier League’s biggest teams are still interested in him.

Liverpool’s attempts to buy Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi during the summer transfer window were unsuccessful, therefore they were unable to add a midfield player.
