Morgan Rogers is preparing for his first full season in the colours of Aston Villa following his transfer last January.
Aston Villa signed the attacking midfielder from Championship side Middlesbrough and he didn’t take long to become a first-team regular.
Rogers proved why he was once on the books at Manchester City and tipped to go on and do great things in his career.
Unai Emery had to deal with many injury issues during the second half of the campaign, but his winter transfer addition stepped up and made himself count.
The 22-year-old scored three goals and supplied one assist from 641 minutes of Premier League football, with every goal being vital to the team picking up points.
It played a part in Villa securing Champions League football and now the team are preparing for the new Premier League campaign.
It remains to be seen how Villa will line up for their opener against West Ham, but you suspect Rogers will start.
Stephen Warnock thinks the powerful midfielder is the one to watch in the Premier League next season, as he told The Football Show on Sky Sports (12/08/24).
The former left-back stated how Rogers ‘continued to impress’ during the final months of the last campaign and he is now ready to go up a level.
Morgan Rogers is a player to watch in the Premier League
“I went for Morgan Rogers at Aston Villa,” said Warnock about his Premier League player to watch. “Yes, he did (have a good end to last season).
“A player that just continued to impress under Unai Emery and who got better as the season went on. Making that step up from the Championship to the Premier League. I think it will be interesting.”
Morgan Rogers’ importance after Ollie Watkins
Ollie Watkins is the main man for Villa in the attacking third, but now Rogers’ importance to the team is growing after the England striker.
Rogers has looked impressive in pre-season for Villa and he is certainly one to watch out for because he could be the man for the team.
You know Watkins will get the goals, but this is Rogers’ chance to get into double figures in goals also.
If that happens then the chances of finishing in the top four again will increase, although Ally McCoist and Jeff Stelling were in agreement about where Villa will finish.
