Ajax speedster Steven Bergwijn is attracting interest from West Ham United as they aim to bolster their roster in the summer.

According to a recent report by De Telegraaf, Steven Bergwijn, an Ajax speedster, is attracting interest from West Ham United. According to reports, the Hammers are keen to sign the talented Dutch player this summer.

Bergwijn’s Impressive Form In Dutch Football

Bergwijn had a respectable season with the Dutch team because he was in charge of some visually striking performances for them in the closing third. The 26-year-old participated in 31 Ajax games in the last campaign, tallying 13 goals and dishing out five assists across various leagues.

With an average of 2.8 shoots, 2.1 critical passes, and 1.6 dribbles per game in the Dutch Eredivisie, the Amsterdam-born wonder was a dependable player in the opposition’s half. His 87.1% pass completion percentage in the Dutch top tier (data via whoscored) shows that he was even neat when passing the ball in the final third.

The Dutch club has a deal with him that expires in the summer of 2027. Therefore, it would be challenging for West Ham to sign him later this year at a reduced cost.

West Ham United

Should West Ham United Boss Julen Lopetegui Snap Bergwijn Up?

Bergwijn is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to make some decent plays for others around him and can use his pace to get in behind the opponent’s backline.

The Dutch talent is primarily a left-winger but can also operate as an attacking midfielder or as a centre-forward if asked to do so. He would bring more pace and firepower to West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui’s frontline.

At 26, Bergwijn is about to enter his prime which makes him a decent option for the Hammers to consider in the summer. He is good enough to help the East London club challenge across all fronts in the coming years.

Taking everything into account, Lopetegui must to concentrate on doing everything within his ability to sign Bergwijn this summer. If West Ham is able to sign him before the end of this transfer window, he will quickly become accustomed to life at the London Stadium as he is already well-versed in the Premier League from his time at Tottenham Hotspur.
