The story of Matt O’Riley’s move carries on as the midfielder for Celtic draws interest from yet another English Premier League team.

This summer, a lot of conjecture surrounding the Danish international has increased as some of the best teams in Europe consider adding O’Riley to their rosters.

It appears that Atletico Madrid is still interested, so the La Liga team will have to get ready for some fierce competition from across the border.

This trade was stalled after Southampton expressed interest earlier in the week because O’Riley’s salary demands exceeded what The Saints were willing to pay.

And it appears that Russel Martin will have to get ready for competition from one of the opponents in England’s top division if he wants the Celtic midfield player.

Leicester City want O’Riley after £30m transfer sale

The Scottish Sun has reported that Brendan Rodgers’ old club, Leceister City, are looking at O’Riley as a replacement for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who was sold to Chelsea this summer for £30m.

The report also claims that scouts from The Foxes, who won promotion to the top tier last season, believe the Celtic midfielder could replace the new Chelsea star’s goals and assists.

It is also suggested that The King Power Stadium side may well need to pay more than the £30m fee they got from Enzo Maresca’s side for Dewsbury-Hall.

Just two days ago, O’Riley went back to Celtic for preseason workouts in anticipation of departing later this month for his preseason tour of the United States.

As the team plays in the redesigned Champions League group stages, Celtic fans will be fervently hoping that their star stays with the team for just one more season.

The one positive that the Hoops support can take from the reported interest of Southampton and Leicester is that neither are involved in European football next season and the Dane may well want another crack at it with Celtic.

No doubt there will be further speculation and rumour as the transfer window rumbles on but, for now, O’Riley will be focused on getting himself fit for the new season and, hopefully, that new season will involve him wearing the green and whist Hoops.
