After being hauled out for aggressive behaviour during Monday night’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest, the striker will face a three-game suspension.

Referee Robert Jones first missed the incident, but after a VAR review, the 23-year-old was shown a straight red for an elbow into Ryan Yates’ midriff.

Foster will now miss the following league games against Manchester United and Newcastle United, as well as the Carabao Cup third round fixture against Salford City.
Burnley’s highest scorer in the Premier League this season, the South African, will return to play on Tuesday, October 3 when they travel to Luton Town.

“He will be (a miss), but that’s why you build a squad,” Kompany explained. “We have players who can fill this role.” We have other players that can contribute.

“As we saw on Monday with Mike Tresor’s arrival, there will be more to come.” There are certain guys who have yet to play who have the ability to help us. Hopefully, they will be able to step up in these situations.

“We’ll miss Lyle, but this is a chance for someone else.”

In response to the incident, Kompany acknowledges he may have to wrap his arm around the striker to ensure he returns to form.

It comes after the striker opened up about his recent mental health issues following his move to Europe during the summer.

“It’s a shame,” remarked Kompany of Foster’s dismissal.

“I think it’s something you have to put forward first, the effort he puts into the team and how he’s establishing himself in this league, but he made a mistake.”

“I’m a little more cautious because he’s been very open about mental health in the past, so I’ll back off and make sure he’s ready for the next game.”

“He knows himself, he’s done brilliantly for the team.” It’s all about getting him back to where he was before the red card.”
