Alan Myers has not heard that there is anything concrete in the Everton pursuit of Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.

The Sky Sports journalist responded on Twitter on 26 June after Santi Aouna from Foot Mercato claimed on 20 June that the Toffees had made an offer for the Nigeria international.

The 27-year-old is out of contract at the King Power Stadium this summer and it is understood to be open to offers.

Myers wrote: “Not heard anything on him.”

Wilfred Ndidi on a free transfer would be a good deal for Everton

Ndidi could be a valuable signing for Everton on a free transfer due to his extensive Premier League experience and versatility.

The Nigerian has made nearly 200 appearances in the English top flight with Leicester City, contributing to their success in domestic and European competitions.

His ability to adapt to different roles in midfield, from a defensive anchor to a more advanced playmaker, would provide the Toffees with tactical flexibility.

Moreover, Ndidi’s presence would help them strengthen their midfield, which has been a point of concern but there are expected to be other clubs interested as well. [Foot Mercato, 28 May]

His defensive capabilities, including his tackling and interception skills, could significantly help them win midfield battles and control the tempo of games.

Furthermore, Ndidi’s leadership qualities and experience could be crucial in guiding the club’s younger talents and providing stability and mentorship in the squad.
