In the summer transfer window, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been connected to a departure from Everton.

There’s little doubt that this choice will divide Everton supporters. That is, of course, assuming that there is a formal offer.

But the leaders of Goodison Park will have to decide if a bid is made for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The reason for this heated discussion is that the striker only has a year left on his contract. Some supporters think it makes sense to take advantage of Calvert-Lewin at the correct price. In a year, he might go for nothing, and even though he participated in 38 games the previous season, his chronic injury problems from before still exist. Considering that the Blues paid almost £1 million to acquire Calvert-Lewin in 2016, they would still be profiting handsomely. It would be beneficial for meeting Premier League financial regulations.

However, Calvert-Lewin showed his capabilities by the close of the 2023–24 season. The 27-year-old became a talisman, much like he did when he scored 21 goals in the 2020–21 campaign. In the last seven games of the previous season, Calvert-Lewin scored four goals. He had an outstanding performance in the 2-0 victory over Liverpool in the Merseyside derby. By 2024–2025, if he keeps up that level of performance, he will seriously undermine every defense. Both rulings have their merits.

According to reports, Newcastle United’s interest in Calvert-Lewin has waned. However, Manchester United has also been linked, and AC Milan is rumored to be an admirer.

Should Sean Dyche’s team decide to sell, a successor will be needed. The first item on Everton’s shopping list should therefore be a focal point to lead the attack. Beto arrived from Udinese last summer, although his first campaign was not without its setbacks. The Portuguese was erratic; he could excite followers one moment and frustrate them with mistakes the next. Youseff Chermiti, on the other hand, is only 20 years old, thus a loan might be necessary for his advancement.

Dyche would need an experienced centre-forward – someone ideally tried and tested in the Premier League. One name who has been linked is Tammy Abraham.

Medical Update: Tammy Abraham - AS Roma

After three years at AS Roma, reports indicate that Abraham is prepared to return to England. The England international, who cost £34 million to sign with Roma from Chelsea, had an incredible first season in the Italian city, scoring 27 goals across all competitions as Roma won the first Europa Conference League.

Jose Mourinho was the one who signed Abraham, waxed poetic about the difference he made at Roma, and expressed confidence in his ability to make an impact should he ever return to the Premier League.

“He is aware of my happiness,” the former Chelsea manager stated to Sky Sports. “He is aware of my affection for the child and the athlete, and I’m thrilled for Tammy and proud of our progress.”

“We have got into this situation where I demand a lot from him because I know he can do amazingly well. I don’t think it’s an easy decision for a young player to leave his club, his house, his city, his country and to leave the Premier League which is of course a competition that when a player is in its hard to leave.

“He took that option and I think he took it because he trusted me. And I think in this moment, if he wants to go back to England – I don’t think he wants to no – but if he wants to go back to England he just needs to click his fingers and I’m so happy for him.”

The 2022-23 season wasn’t as fruitful for Abraham as he bagged only nine goals in 57 appearances – suffering an ACL injury on the final day. That meant he was ruled out for the majority of 2023-24, making his return in the final weeks. He managed 12 appearances, with two of those starts and scored once.

It appears Abraham’s time in Rome may be reaching a culmination. He has two years left on his deal but an exit has been suggested. The 26-year-old does seem to have options, with Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and West Ham linked.

The key advantage that the Blues have over their top-flight rivals is that Dan Friedkin, who owns Roma, is in the process of completing a Goodison Park takeover.

Mourinho is a shrewd judge when it comes to players as he ranks among the greatest managers in modern history. Abraham could be the answer if Calvert-Lewin departs.
