Tottenham are in need of a new striker this summer. After the sale of Harry Kane last summer, it was down to Heung-min Son and Richarlison to lead the line for Ange Postecoglou‘s side.
The pair bagged 28 league goals between them, but more is needed, and it is thought the signing of a new number 9 can help take Spurs to the next level.
The Lilywhites have been linked to Ivan Toney for quite some time now, and it appears the Brentford man will finally be on the move in the coming transfer window (GiveMeSport).
Ivan Toney can help Son and Maddison flourish
Speaking to Poker Sites, Sheringham has explained why the England striker would be the ideal fit for Tottenham’s attacking style, and how he can help players like Son and James Maddison improve, too.
He said: “Tottenham need a centre-forward. They need a goalscorer – they can’t keep putting Heung-min Son up there because he’s not a proper striker, he’s a man who plays off a striker like he used to do with Harry Kane. James Maddison needs a focal point to play off as well.
“I think Ivan Toney would be a good fit for Tottenham – he could probably go to any of Chelsea, Arsenal or Tottenham.
“I’d like to see Spurs get him, because he’s got the leadership qualities of a number nine that would be very important for any of those teams. He leads the line so well for Brentford and always troubles his marker.”
