Current Wolves transfer rumors and news as they get ready for the upcoming Premier League season.

Wolves were 12th in the previous season’s standings. Under Gary O’Neil’s direction, they are now getting ready for another year.

Now that the transfer market has opened, the Midlands team has the opportunity to add some new players. In light of that, let’s take a look at some recent rumors and news originating from the club.

Wolves to miss out on prodigy

According to reports, Wolves may not be able to sign CJ Afumuzor, a teenage player from Portsmouth. As per a report by AllNigerianSoccer, the young player is expected to sign with Newcastle United, another premier league team.

Aston Villa and Manchester United are reportedly interested in the 14-year-old. It seems, though, that he is moving northeast.

He will leave behind a Pompey side who were promoted to the Championship this past term after winning the League One title under John Mousinho.

Target to join another club

Jhon Arias tendría giro radical en su futuro: Fluminense lo confirmó | Antena 2

Wolves were linked with a move for Fluminese attacker Jhon Arias back in April. As per AS, O’Neil’s side were credited with an interest in the 26-year-old along with Burnley, Crystal Palace, Atletico Madrid and Rangers.

In this latest update regarding his situation, RTI Esporte suggest he is in advanced talks with West Ham over a potential switch to the London Stadium. The Hammers are said to have made an £11million swoop for him as their new boss Julen Lopetegui looks to put his own stamp on the squad.

Arias, who is a Colombia international with 13 caps under his belt so far in his career, has been on the books of his current club since joining them back in 2021 and has since become one of their most prized assets.

He has scored 35 goals in 168 games for them to date, having previously played for the likes of Llaneros, Patriotas, America de Cali and Santa Fe.

Wolves will have to look elsewhere for potential attacking reinforcements with it looking increasing likely that he will be joining West Ham this summer.

Winger expected to leave

Journalist Konstantinos Lianos has reported on X that Daniel Podence is ‘expected’ to leave on a permanent basis. He has spent this past season on loan in Greece with Olympiacos.

The winger was given the green light to head out the exit door on a temporary basis just over 12 months ago and has since been a key player for the Europa Conference League winners, scoring 15 goals in 47 matches altogether.

Podence is due to return to Molinuex now for pre-season but Lianos has said his parent club are looking to offload him. Cutting ties with the 28-year-old would be a shrewd move by Wolves.

He has fallen out of favour and letting him leave would free up space and funds in their ranks to bring in other players.

The Portuguese forward moved over to England back in 2020 and was signed by Nuno Espirito Santo. He has made 105 outings for Wolves and has scored 16 times.
