Based on points per game, we have ranked the top seven managers of Leicester City below.

Leicester City has had an amazing start to the season under Enzo Maresca’s leadership.

This season, the Foxes returned to the second division for the first time in a long time, and the team was filled with uncertainty.

The Leicester board chose Maresca to lead the team out of the Championship, and the Italian succeeded in doing so by winning the Championship title and capping off a fantastic debut campaign in English football.

We at Football League World have therefore chosen to use Transfermarkt to rank Leicester City’s top seven managers based on PPG after managing 25 games for the team, as the team gets ready to return to the Premier League.

7Martin O’Neill

In this list of Leicester City’s seven best managers, it is Martin O’Neill who is ranked in seventh place in terms of points per game.

The Irishman was in charge of the Foxes from December 1995 to May 2000, during which he spent 1623 days at the football club.

Under O’Neill, Leicester won promotion from the Football League to the Premier League via the play-offs.

Then, in 1997, the club won the Football League Cup and repeated the success once again in 2000, after reaching the final of the competition in 1999.

O’Neil took charge of 186 Leicester games, and he left the club with a points per game ratio of 1.41.

6Micky Adams

Micky Adams took charge of Leicester City in April 2002 after taking the reins from Dave Bassett.

The 62-year-old was in charge of the Foxes for two and a half years, and that spell came after he had already been the club’s assistant manager since October 2001.

Adams had a long career in football management, with him going on to manage teams such as Brighton, Port Vale, Sheffield United, and Tranmere Rovers, to name a few.

Compared to his other jobs in football management, Adams spent a long time at Leicester; in fact, he was there for 916 days, taking charge of 110 games, and he left with a points per game ratio of 1.45.

5Sven Goran Eriksson

The next manager on this list is Sven Goran Eriksson, a manager who has had a fantastic career in the game.

The Swede has had many roles in football, as he’s managed Roma, Fiorentina, Benfica, Lazio, Manchester City, Mexico, England, and, of course, Leicester City.

Erikson’s first job in England was managing the national team, a role he did for five years. He then took charge at Man City before returning to England in 2010 to take over at Leicester.

He was at Leicester for just over a year, and in that time he took charge of 55 games, leaving the club with a points per game ratio of 1.55, as per Transfermarkt.

4Claudio Ranieri

Out of all these managers, it is probably Claudio Ranieri who will be forever remembered by the Leicester fanbase.

The Italian took over at the King Power Stadium in July 2015, and remarkably, he led the club to Premier League success, an achievement that will never be forgotten in the club’s history.

The second season didn’t go too well for Ranieri and Leicester, as the club were at the wrong end of the table, but he had put his name in the history books of the club and will always be remembered by the supporters.

He was in charge of 81 matches at Leicester City, and he left the club with a points per game ratio of 1.59, as per Transfermarkt.

3Brendan Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers is one of Leicester’s most recent managers, as he joined the club in February 2019 and was there until April 2023.

Rodgers was another manager who took Leicester to glory, as he guided the club to FA Cup success during his tenure.

The Foxes were also a side that was regularly competing for a spot in the Champions League or Europa League under Rodgers’ reign.

But the last season wasn’t as successful, as it was during the campaign that the club was relegated to the Championship. But despite that, Rodgers left the club having managed 204 games, and he still had a very good points per game ratio, as that was 1.59, the same as Ranieri.

2Nigel Pearson

Nigel Pearson is a man who has been lucky enough to manage Leicester on two separate occasions.

He first joined the club in June 2008 and was in charge for two years, overseeing 106 matches and leaving with a points per game ratio of 1.82. In that time, he guided the club to the League One title as well as the Championship title.

After a year and a bit away from the Foxes, Pearson returned once again in November 2011, this time staying with the club for a longer period of time.

He stayed with Leicester until June 2015, during which he once again won the Championship title with the Foxes and then helped the club make a great escape in the Premier League relegation battle.

It was Pearson’s first spell in charge that gave him the best points per game ratio, as his second saw him pick up 1.61 points per match.

1Enzo Maresca

Leicester City’s best-ranked manager based on points per game is their current boss, Enzo Maresca.

As mentioned, the Italian took the reins at the King Power Stadium at the start of last summer, and it has been an excellent first season in charge of the club.

Maresca managed to put together a side that shrugged off relegation and stormed ahead of the chasing pack in the early stages of the season.

The Foxes were expected to seal promotion, and they did just that, which was excellent given that it was Maresca’s first managerial job in England.

After his first season, Maresca has managed 53 matches and currently has a points per game ratio of 2.11, the most of any other manager after 25 games in charge.
