Everton’s Ashley Young has now claimed the Toffees have a player who is destined to become one of the greats in the coming years.

A turbulent campaign for Everton was seen out in style as Sean Dyche led his side to four wins from their final six games.

The fears of relegation following the points deduction earlier in the campaign were put to ease before the run-in as Everton finished 14 points clear of Luton Town.

Premier League football was crucial for the Toffees ahead of the new season with the construction of the new stadium nearing completion.

Some standout performers emerged from the 2023/24 campaign at Goodison Park and Ashley Young believes the Toffees have a real talent in their ranks.

Ashley Young thinks Everton have a real talent on their hands at Goodison Park

This summer is going to provide Everton with a big decision on what to do with one of their big talents.

There if the belief that the Toffees may have to sell players before June 30 to prevent any further FFP concerns ahead of next season.

Jarrad Branthwaite is a player who is attracting a lot of attention from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

The England international is a player who could alleviate some of Everton’s financial concerns this summer with Manchester United believed to be keen on the 21-year-old.

Speaking on TalkSPORT earlier this week, Young has spoken about just how impressed he has been with Branthwaite amid his call-up to the England squad.

“I’m over the moon for him because I know what he’s brought to our team. Not just on the pitch but off the pitch as well,” Young said.

“He’s literally playing above his years. He’s so confident, he’s comfortable playing football and I’m delighted for him that he’s been included in the squad.”

Ashley Young thinks Jarrad Branthwaite has to be starting for England

This summer is going to provide Gareth Southgate with an opportunity to trust one of the Premier League’s most exciting young defenders, in Branthwaite.

The 21-year-old featured 41 times across all competitions for Everton this season and there isn’t much more he could have done to impress Southgate in a turbulent Toffees side.

And Young has admitted he feels Branthwaite is a player who would be more than comfortable in starting for the Three Lions this summer at the Euros.

“For me, he could start [for England]… definitely. I’d be confident enough to say, start him. If he’s going to be called upon he’d fit straight in there. He doesn’t take any prisoners, he wants to play football.

“He can tackle, he can head it and come up with a goal as well. He’s got all the attributes to be a great centre-half for many years.”
