The top goalkeeper for Sunderland is still being linked to a move during the impending transfer window.

Ahead of the summer transfer window, Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson is once again drawing interest from transfer agencies.

Liverpool is reportedly keeping a “close” eye on Patterson as they get ready for a potential post-season opening. This was reported last month. New reports, though, have suggested that Sheffield United, who were just demoted, were preparing a “ambitious” £8 million offer.

Sunderland could sell during the window, according to Alan Nixon, but they had “hoped for double the amount United are prepared to pay.” Wes Foderingham’s contract is up, thus Blades manager Chris Wilde is apparently looking for a new number one, leaving United with Grbic, who hasn’t performed well since joining the team.

Patterson is reportedly of interest to Arsenal in addition to Championship teams Leeds United and Leicester City. This season, Scottish champions Celtic have also kept a close eye on the young player as they search for a successor to the retiring Joe Hart.

Patterson, who has been valued between £10 million and £20 million by different sources, inked a new five-year contract in September of last year.
