Mason Rees is free to find a new club this summer, Wolves have informed him, according to sources who spoke to Football Insider.

The 18-year-old barely penned a two-year professional contract with Wanderers last August.

The Premier League club have now informed the central midfielder he can leave Molineux once the transfer window reopens, a year before his deal expired.

Wolves to let Mason Rees leave this summer

Rees was previously viewed by Wolves chiefs as a promising talent for the future after they handed him a contract just nine months ago.

The teenager joined the club at the age of nine before progressing through the ranks up to the U-21s team.

He’s featured 11 times in Premier League 2 this season, while he registered an assist for the U-21s in their EFL Trophy defeat against Derby County last November.

Wolves have enjoyed a solid first season under the leadership of Gary O’Neil after he’s safely guided them into the mid-table places.

The West Midlands side have already earned five more points than they chalked up under Julen Lopetegui in the previous campaign.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month, however, that the club may have to sell some key players this summer to balance the books.
