There is one key figure at Wrexham who has done an ‘incredible’ job under Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Wrexham have just enjoyed a trip to Las Vegas for the second year running as a reward for winning promotion.

The trip was all paid for by Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, with midfielder Andy Cannon describing it as ‘special’.

For Phil Parkinson, who didn’t travel to the States – and his players – it was some much-needed downtime ahead of a gruelling campaign, as upon their return to the UK, preparations will begin ahead of a challenging season in League One.

Reynolds has already claimed he’ll do whatever it takes to get his side challenging near the top as they seek a third consecutive promotion, while executive director Humphrey Ker has been more reserved with his prediction, claiming he’d be satisfied with a top-10 finish.

A busy transfer window awaits the club, regardless of where they’ll finish next season and one key figure has been praised for the work he does behind the scenes.

Humphrey Ker has been ‘utterly incredible’ for Wrexham

Ker’s involvement at Wrexham shouldn’t be understated, as without the 41-year-old’s presence, McElhenney and Reynolds would never have taken over at the club.

Ker’s connection to McElhenney happened through his marriage to Megan Ganz, who is a writer and executive producer on ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’.

He has featured on an episode and was key to the Hollywood duo buying Wrexham in the first place, having instructed McElhenney to watch the ‘Sunderland ‘Til I Die’ series’.

From there, McElhenney was inspired to buy a football club, so once Ker drafted up a list of names, it was the Red Dragons who caught his eye the most and the rest is history.

Speaking on the Rob Ryan Red podcast, Nathan Salt has lauded the impact of Ker, claiming he’s done an ‘utterly incredible’ job.

He said: “Humphrey [Ker] has been an incredible face for interviews and an incredible voice for the football club.

“You have to say, I think he’s been utterly incredible. Even just the interviews he’s giving; he was on Sunday brunch talking about undersoil heating. He’s done so much of that, he’s come on the podcast, he’s done interviews with nationals, he’s done the Leader column for a bit. He has been relentless.”

Humphrey Ker will play prominent role in Wrexham transfers

With McElhenney and Reynolds in the United States most of the time, Ker has huge responsibilities, as he oversees the day-to-day operations at the club.

The executive director has claimed that his duties have ‘taken a toll’ on him but believes that they’ve also brought him the best moments of his life so far.

Ker will play a prominent role in this transfer window once more as he’ll be speaking to players’ agents to arrange transfers and complete relevant paperwork.

He’s already said he’s ‘desperate’ to sign Arthur Okonkwo, with Parkinson revealing they’re currently working on a deal to sign the goalkeeper, though he accepts it could take time.

As the Reds aim to build a squad capable of challenging in the third tier, Ker is bracing himself for a relentless window of business.
