Burnley must ensure that they do not commit the same errors against Tottenham as they did in their lopsided loss to Newcastle United.

That’s Dara O’Shea’s message ahead of Saturday’s possibly pivotal trip to North London.

In order to have any chance of surviving, Vincent Kompany’s team must defeat Tottenham. They also need Chelsea to defeat Nottingham Forest later in the day.

If that occurs, Burnley and Forest will square off in a major match at Turf Moor on the last day.

However, the Clarets’ chances of advancing their relegation battle to the last day are minimal if they play as poorly against Tottenham as they did against Newcastle last weekend, losing 4-1.

Although O’Shea wants his team to forget over the Newcastle match, he also understands that they have to take the loss as a harsh lesson.

“There are still two very important games left. We won’t lose until the very last day,” the Irishman said to Clarets+.

“For us, Spurs is a major game. We are aware that we must go there and use the outcomes to our advantage.

“We wish to offer ourselves the greatest opportunity possible on the final day. We want to have something to play for when we bring it back here.

“Against the Spurs, we must give it our all. It will be difficult, just as it was against Newcastle, so we must have a successful week once more, reorganize, and gather our confidence while maintaining a positive attitude. Perhaps disregard the Newcastle match, but also make use of it as a teaching opportunity.
