Prior to acquiring Matz Sels from RC Strasbourg in the winter transfer window, Nottingham Forest expressed strong interest in UD Las Palmas goalkeeper Álvaro Valles.

Miguel Ángel Ramírez Alonso, the president of Las Palmas, disclosed that he rejected Forest’s €20 million offer for the 26-year-old.

Valles’ contract expires in 2025, and because he declined to sign an extension, the president is trying to negotiate the best deal for him in the upcoming window.

Nottingham Forest are still interested in the stopper if a report from Diario de Almería is to be believed.

Luís Maximiano has been on loan at UD Almería from Lazio since last summer and the Spanish club have an obligation to make his stay permanent if certain conditions are met.

The report states his performances have caught the attention of European clubs and the La Liga side could be in contention to earn money from his sale in the summer window.

When discussing his valuation, Diario de Almería have used Valles and the interest he has received from the Premier League as an example. Nottingham Forest are tagged and it’s claimed they are the ‘main interested party’ for the Spaniard.

It’s further explained that Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have ‘already contacted’ Las Palmas with an offer of around €20m.

After having failed in January, it remains to be seen whether the Premier League side will be successful in the summer. Aston Villa are also credited with an interest in him.
