Newcastle are still being hit with injuries and it looks like Fabian Schar has played his last game for Newcastle this season – he’s had a terrific season and played in almost every game up till now.

But the good news is that Newcastle do have Nick Pope, Miggy Almiron, and Joelinton back in full training this week so all three could be on the bench for today’s game.

This is the side Eddie Howe could pick to beat second-bottom Burnley at Turf Moor today:

Dubravka
Livramento Krafth Burn (c) Hall
Longstaff Guimaraes Anderson
Murphy Isak Gordon

We now have three of our best center-backs Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles, and Fabian Schar unavailable but we have faith that the 29-year-old Swedish International Emil Krafth can get the job done in our final four games.

He’s been an excellent squad player for Newcastle.

We’d expect Almiron and Joelinton to get runouts in the second half today, and let’s hope that (superstar) Joelinton, in particular, can find his form quickly.

We are currently 7th in the league table with Chelsea moving up on us and only 2 points behind after beating Tottenham 2-0 on Thursday night.

Premier League Table 2023-2024

Position Team Played Won Lost Drawn GD Points
5 Tottenham 33 18 9 6 15 60
6 Man United 34 16 12 6 1 54
7 Newcastle 34 16 13 5 19 53
8 Chelsea 34 14 11 9 6 51
9 West Ham 35 13 12 10 -9 49

Our goal difference could be our savior at the end of the season with +19 being the 4th best in the league.

Newcastle’s goals scored, 74, is also the 4th best in the league and the highest goals we have scored in England’s top division for many years.

So we need to strengthen the defense this summer and we will be flying?

Almost 60% of our readers think we can win this game today, but we must be near our best to get the job done away from home against a plucky and well-organized Burnley side.

A win would be absolutely terrific!
