With yesterday’s 2-1 victory over Dundee, Celtic maintained their three-point advantage atop the Scottish Premiership as the season draws to a close.

The victory was sloppy, messy, and not the most entertaining to watch, but at this time in the season, it’s important only that Celtic earn three points from a difficult away location and move on to the next game.

As the supporters lament the remains of yet another dated performance, Brendan Rodgers made a wise decision by starting James Forrest. And Chris Sutton is a tremendous fan of the renowned winger.

Sutton commends the Celtic mythology as “trustworthy.”

This season, Forrest has been in and out of both the matchday squad and the Celtic team.

Given that Rodgers seemed to favor Hyunjun Yang and Luis Palma, the renowned winger had a Scottish Cup opportunity last week at Hampden, and it’s safe to say he seized it.

Starting against Dundee was his reward for his Aberdeen performance, and he paid his manager back with two excellent goals for his Celtic manager.

Sutton said that Forrest isn’t given enough credit at the team as he was substituted out at Dens Park.

Sutton stated to Sky Sports, “This season at Celtic, the wingers are interesting.” Under Postecoglou, they were incredibly dependable with Jota, Abada, and Maeda.

“And there’s uncertainty with the position.

“I think he’s been such a brilliant player, I really do.

“I think, in some ways, under-appreciated. He’s trustworthy and reliable.”

Forrest has now made 491 appearances for Celtic scoring 108 goals and creating a further 102.

His Dens Park double takes the winger to six goals for the season but those six have been crucial to Rodgers’ bid to retain the title and Scottish Cup.

With just four games left of the Scottish Premiership season left and Hearts and Rangers to come to Celtic Park, Forrest will undoubtedly play some part in both those fixtures to ensure that the title race suffers no more hiccups as we head into the home stretch.
