Crystal Palace will have a hectic summer transfer window because there are several positions that need to be addressed.

Oliver Glasner, who arrived at Selhurst Park in February, will have swiftly determined the shortcomings in his team.

Despite Jean-Philippe Mateta’s recent performance, a lengthy list of requirements—which includes a new No. 9—will probably be compiled before this summer.

Mateta has been Crystal Palace’s best player under Glasner thus far, scoring four goals in seven games.

With his performances surpassing the Norwegian in most areas, this form has even drawn parallels to Erling Haaland.

However, Graeme Bailey has now revealed to We Are Palace that a new striker might be added this summer.

Crystal Palace targeting Thierno Barry this summer

We chatted with HITC’s transfer specialist, Graeme Bailey, as the transfer window approaches to find out the most recent Palace targets.

This summer, the striker position needs to be reinforced because Odsonne Edouard is probably going to leave.

“They have examined Thierno Barry. He is a very, very good prospect. They have their eye on him.

Thierno Barry is undoubtedly a dynamic striker; for Basel in the Swiss Super League this year, he has scored eight goals, provided four assists, and added two more in the Swiss Cup.

He is a young player, only 21 years old, who has the potential to grow exponentially. He would probably cost about the same as the £13 million that Palace paid for the Frenchman in 2021 and be a great addition to the team alongside Mateta.

What might Thierno Barry bring to Oliver Glasner’s side?

For Barry, his strengths lie in his physical traits as he uses them hand in hand with his game.

Standing at 6ft 4in, he’s an inch taller than Mateta who currently stands out as a dominant giant on the pitch at 6ft 3in.

While he’s been enjoying a decent season, it’s really exploded over the past three games with two assists and three goals in these games.

Like Mateta, he’s not only a strong goalscorer but also can act as a creative outlet for his team, with 19 chances created this season (73rd percentile), then he’s also won 40 fouls which is the 100th percentile among his positional peers in Switzerland.
