Victor Orta, the sporting director of Sevilla, has decided firmly not to exercise the option to sign Boubakary Soumare, a Leicester City loanee.

The 25-year-old midfielder has been a vital member of Sevilla since joining the team on loan from Leicester City in the summer.

The Spanish team has the option to make the transfer permanent, and they were only thinking about exercising that option with him.

Plans have now changed, though, as Sevilla is working with a constrained transfer budget to plan for the upcoming window.

The Spanish daily Estadio Deportivo, headquartered in Seville, also claims that Orta has decided against trying to recruit the midfield player to a long-term contract.

The remainder of the Sevilla technical team has been informed of the sporting director’s decision.

According to Orta, Sevilla lacks the financial wherewithal to buy Soumare during the summer transfer season.

The club have other priorities in the market and are keen to cut their cloth accordingly.

For the moment, it seems likely that Soumare will be back at Leicester at the end of the season.

The Foxes could still look to sell him as they battle financial fair play worries.
