Since Nottingham Forest has been backed to offload two of their finest players this summer in order to alleviate financial issues, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur stand to gain.

Nottingham Forest was docked four points last month for violating the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations. They are presently awaiting word on the outcome of their appeal against the deduction of points.

While Forest admitted to losing more money than Everton – £34.5million over the threshold in total – their punishment was less severe due to them admitting their losses early and cooperating fully with the resultant investigation.

However, there are serious concerns Forest will have to sell more top players ahead of next season to prevent any further sanctions.

Former chief executive Keith Wyness of Everton and Aston Villa predicts two major names will leave the City Ground in the summer to help the team balance its books.

He stated, “I believe Forest is having problems,” in a podcast interview with The Inside Track.

“The amortisation bill for Forest going forward is going to be the recurring problem for them every season.

“They bought so many players and so many of those instalments are pushed down the road.

“It’ll be there for a long time and that’s going to give them a real hard job to actually try and get into numbers that are going to be compliant.

“The Brennan Johnson transfer for around £47.5m will certainly help them but they may have to look at another sale or two.”

Liverpool and Tottenham, Forest’s Premier League opponents, are keeping an eye on the situation in case they might take advantage of it.

Following his summer transfer from Corinthians to Forest, Murillo is a center-back from Brazil, and Liverpool is leading the chase to sign him.

Arsenal, Chelsea, and Atletico Madrid have all expressed interest in Murillo as a result of his stellar Premier League performances.

The 21-year-old cost Forest just over £10 million to sign, but they stand to gain a lot of money from him.

Before making a deal, Liverpool must match Murillo’s £50 million asking price.

There are other elegant Forest players who could be moving later this year besides Murillo. From joining the East Midlands club in August 2022, Morgan Gibbs-White has established himself as maybe Forest’s greatest player, thus there will be a lot of interest in him.

Although Tottenham is most likely to make a summer move, Arsenal and West Ham United also think highly of the offensive midfielder.

Forest should be able to make a profit when selling Gibbs-White, too. They paid an initial £25m for him, rising to a potential £42.5m, and have now set their asking price at £50m.

Selling Murillo and Gibbs-White for a combined £100m would certainly help any financial worries at Forest.
