Following a contentious incident during Everton vs. Bournemouth in the Premier League, Keith Hackett has taken aim at Michael Oliver.

On Saturday, March 30, Seamus Coleman’s own goal late in the game guaranteed that the Cherries won 2-1 on the south coast, keeping Sean Dyche’s team from ending their winless run in the Premier League.

But according to former FIFA official Hackett, Oliver, who was in charge of VAR, should have overturned Samuel Barrot’s judgment because he thought the Toffees should have been awarded a penalty after Dominic Calvert-Lewin was tripped.

On Sunday, March 31, he wrote on X, saying: “Everton is the victim of yet another bad choice.” When Everton’s Calvert Lewin was obviously tripped, referee Barrot said “no.”

“VAR Oliver failed to support his teammate once more. Michael, please go do your work. That was a penalty kick and a foul. You disappointed your colleague.

Will Everton avoid relegation from the Premier League into the Championship?

Even if Everton hasn’t performed well enough in the Premier League under Dyche in recent months, it seems like everything is working against them in an attempt to keep them from being relegated this season.

Whether it be the point deductions for breaches of profit and sustainable rules or poor decisions like the one made against Bournemouth, the Toffees just can’t catch a break and they deserve more than a stroke of luck.

Right now, it is difficult to see how the Blues stay up, so maybe something will change sooner rather than later. They are unable to purchase victory in the league, and it is anticipated that they will soon lose even more points.

Even though Dyche is entitled to some criticism, there have been moments when it seems like the Everton manager is losing. If the Toffees are to play in the Premier League the following season, something has to change.

Most fans don’t understand how VAR missed what was probably one of the clearest trips and penalties, but when Dyche’s team is involved, it’s almost become expected.

In other Everton news, Ashley Young has decided to stay at Goodison Park after the current campaign ends.
