Crystal Palace is expected to evaluate their alternatives during the summer transfer window. Oliver Glasner is rumored to seek to strengthen his strikers, with Ajax star Chuba Akpom being mentioned as a player the club values.

Oliver Glasner is getting ready for his first transfer window as the Eagles’ manager, and Crystal Palace will be looking to strengthen their offensive line this summer.

The future of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, who have drawn attention over time owing to their enigmatic displays in South London, is the central focus of Selhurst Park’s summer season.

There is still more work to be done to guarantee Palace makes greater progress the following season, but Glasner will be eager to leave his mark on the team he took over from Roy Hodgson in February.

Crystal Palace could target Ajax striker Chuba Akpom in the summer

Rumors start to spread as the transfer window draws closer, with some star attackers already being connected to Selhurst.

As was reported earlier today, Sporting CP winger Marcus Edwards is also liked by Palace, who also value the skills of forwards Serhou Guirassy and Eddie Nketiah.

It appears like Glasner will want to bolster his front line this summer. HITC journalist Graeme Bailey exclusively informed We Are Palace that another attacker is rumored to be a player the club likes.

“It will be intriguing to observe their approach; I am aware of their admiration for Chuba Akpom at Ajax, but I do not anticipate them selecting him as their top pick.”

“A striker is very high up in their list but it depends what happens with the rest of the squad, if they lose a centre-back, then they’ll need a centre-half as well.”

What Chuba Akpom could offer to Crystal Palace

Despite not being reported to be Palace’s first choice of a striker, Chuba Akpom could provide Glasner with the clinical spark he requires to lead the line.

The Englishman, who was linked to Selhurst back in January, was snatched up by Ajax from Middlesbrough for just £12m last summer.

Having risen through the ranks at Arsenal’s illustrious Hale End academy, Akpom knows the ropes of playing in England, having made four Premier League appearances and a further 129 Championship appearances.

Last season, the striker showed his worth in the second tier, scoring 28 goals to be the Championship’s top scorer, ahead of marksman Viktor Gyokeres.

According to Sofascore, the 28-year-old’s goal streak hasn’t stopped since joining the Eredivisie. He has scored 11 goals for Ajax this season in all competitions, averaging a goal per 87 minutes in the league.

While Akpom continues to demonstrate his offensive prowess in front of goal, signing him might undoubtedly increase Glasner’s attacking options. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if the Eagles will move the Englishman up their wanted list.
