Crystal Palace have just been dealt a blow in the pursuit of a serious contender to replace Michael Olise this summer.

Many people anticipate seeing Michael Olise leave Selhurst Park this summer, even if he hasn’t left yet.

The search for a suitable alternative to take Oliver Glasner’s right-sided attacker spot has already started at Crystal Palace.

Several players, including Mauricio of International, have been mentioned as possibly arriving at Copers Cope in the last few days alone.

In addition to the Brazilian, Jonathan Rowe of Norwich and the outstanding Jaden Philogene, who plays for Hull City, are two of the best young players in the Championship according to reports from Palace.

However, one name has suffered now that HITC Football’s Graham Bailey has questioned the deal for Matias Soule, who is valued at £37 million.

Matias Soule might not join Crystal Palace afterall

Juventus’ on-loan Argentine, Matias Soule, has been linked with the Eagles since December while reports in January claimed a bid was even rejected.

Now though Graeme Bailey has shared his view on whether Soule is Selhurst Park bound, and it’s bad news for anyone hoping this move came off.

“Matias Soule is a tremendous player, he’s doing really well, I think he’s on the agenda. I think he could end up back at Juventus, to be honest from what I’m hearing in Italy but he is on the list if he is available.”

This is something that wouldn’t be surprising as Soule has been so good for Frosinone on loan that it would make sense for Juventus to want to keep him, despite his dream being a Premier League move.

Juventus themselves have been struggling for a handful of years now and Soule has outperformed every single attacking player at his parent club apart from the striker Dusan Vlahovic.

Who would be Dougie Freedman’s top choice to replace Michael Olise?

To give Glasner the best chance of succeeding here, Freedman needs to plan for this upcoming summer.

The Austrian manager, who previously led Palace to victory in the Europa League, hopes to eventually lead Palace to Europe.

This will not be a simple assignment to replace if Olise leaves, so whomever takes his place needs to be very good, and if the release clause is fulfilled, Palace will need to shell out at least £70 million.

Although Soule is the ideal option, Philogene is likely the player most capable of creating the magic Olise has occasionally produced if Soule isn’t available.
