The punter from Wales earned sympathy and now has received an act of kindness from generous sponsors.

A devoted Rangers supporter, who endured a grueling overnight journey from Wales to Dundee for the match, only to find it cancelled upon arrival, has received a heartwarming gesture from two of the club’s sponsors. Despite the disappointment of the game’s cancellation due to unplayable pitch conditions, the fan’s travel and accommodation expenses for the rescheduled fixture have been covered by the sponsors.

The fan’s tale garnered sympathy from fellow supporters on social media, prompting the club to organize a special meet-and-greet for his young son with some of the first-team players. On his return journey, the fan unexpectedly encountered Rabbi Matondo at the airport, who was also traveling south to join the Wales squad for their Euro 2024 playoff against Finland.

However, the fan now claims that some generous Rangers sponsors have stepped in after the SPFL announced that the rearranged game against Dundee will take place on Wednesday, April 10. “Huge thanks to @RangersFC partners Rhino Express & Pipeline Energy Solutions who reached out and graciously paid for our hotel & travel expenses following Sunday’s tragedy,” he wrote.

On Sunday the fan posted a photo setting off on a bus in the dead of night along with his young son and the message: “Dundee away starts now. Overnight bus to Scotland aren’t for the weak but neither are title races.” And TWELVE hours later he shared a series of facepalm emojis alongside the tweet from Dundee announcing that there was a pitch inspection for the lunchtime kick off on Tayside.
