After this season, Loris Karius will not be playing for Newcastle United.

As per a recent report by Football Insider, the German goalkeeper is expected to depart from Newcastle during the summer.
Eddie Howe has decided not to extend the contract of the former Liverpool goalie, whose current agreement expires in June, after turning down the 30-year-old’s request to remain at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle United will not extend the contract of Loris Karius.

Upon signing as an economical backup keeper in the wake of Nick Pope’s chronic shoulder ailment, Karius was anticipated to step in and boost the stats. Although he hasn’t played much, his two appearances have been disappointing.

Tasked with stopping Manchester United during last season’s Carabao Cup final, Karius was once again on the losing side after the Magpies fell to a 2-0 Wembley defeat. The German’s only other outing came away against Arsenal last month — a game Newcastle lost 4-1.

It hasn’t just been Karius who has flattered to deceive though. Collectively, Newcastle have endured a tough campaign and Howe is now set to overhaul his squad ahead of next season. Unfortunately for Karius though, the German is not expected to make the cut and will become a free agent for the second time in as many years.
