Ipswich Town are massively punching above their weight at the moment and a massive reason for that is young head coach Kieran McKenna, who has done an exemplary job since taking over at Portman Road.

McKenna has been in his role with the Tractor Boys for over two years and managed to guide the club back to the Championship after years of stagnating in League One. Now, he is steering the East Anglian side towards an unprecedented return to the top-flight.

A dramatic, late goal from Leif Davis against Bristol City on Tuesday earned all three points for Ipswich, keeping them within three points of league-leaders Leicester City and inside the automatic promotion spots with merely ten matches remaining of the regular season.

Furthermore, as revealed by Opta’s latest projections, Ipswich Town now have a 100% chance of at least earning a spot in the playoffs which is a testament to how good McKenna’s men have been this season.

However, with the manager’s success comes interest from bigger clubs. According to a report from BILD in Germany, Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart have identified the Northern Irishman as a potential replacement for head coach Sebastian Hoeness.

As the German powerhouses appear certain to miss out on the league title for the first time in twelve years, Bayern Munich has announced that manager Thomas Tuchel would retire at the end of the current campaign. Hoeness, who recently inked a new five-year contract with the team, is being considered as a potential successor to the former Chelsea manager.

Under Hoeness, Stuttgart has had a fantastic season and is currently four points behind Bayern Munich in third place in the Bundesliga. In the event that the head coach departs, McKenna may be joining a Champions League team.
