This offseason, the UCLA Bruins football team has been very busy assembling a strong coaching staff. DeShaun Foster took over as head coach after Chip Kelly was fired. Foster wants to change the culture at UCLA.
In order to manage the offense as the offensive coordinator and associate head coach, he brought in veteran NFL assistant Eric Bieniemy. Erik Frazier, another former NFL coach, is now joining the club.
Frazier was a staffer with the Tennessee Titans and he will be the new wide receivers coach for the Bruins. He has spent two years with the Titans as an offensive skill assistant, after serving time at Montana State.
He was the receivers coach and passing game coordinator while at Montana State. Frazier brings experience to the table with him and now is looking to further his career with the Bruins.
Frazier will be tasked with helping this Bruins offense get back up to speed. Under Kelly, they ran the ball often, but Bieniemy will likely bring a new philosophy to the offense. While he was with the Kansas City Chiefs, he made it a point to use the passing game to set up the run.
It helped that he had star Patrick Mahomes to work with, but while he isn’t Mahomes, Ethan Garbers is no slouch. The Bruins receiving group will get to work with multiple former NFL assistants, further helping their football development. This is a good hire by UCLA and shows that the team is serious about fielding a winning product.
