After defeating Burnley 3-0 at Selhurst Park in the Premier League, Crystal Palace got back on track last week.

Oliver Glasner’s debut game in command saw the Eagles win all three points, despite Vincent Kompany’s team playing terrible once more.

He is now just the second manager in the history of the team to win their first Premier League game in charge.

Jean-Philippe Mateta, Chris Richards, and Jordan Ayew scored goals to give Palace a vital win over Burnley with 10 men. While there were other outstanding performances in that game, Ayew left a lasting impression on Garth Crooks.

Richards’ first goal for the team came from a “glorious” cross sent by the 32-year-old forward. After his outstanding performance, Crooks claims he is playing some “tremendous” football.

“Ayew has taken charge at Palace and is producing some tremendous football in the absence of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise,” Crooks told BBC Sport.

“He set up Chris Richards’ first goal for the club with a glorious cross and scored his second in consecutive matches, having covered the ground to convert a brilliant passage of play.”

Fantastic start from the new manager

Ayew has been in brilliant form for the Eagles this season, having scored four goals and provided six assists in the Premier League.

Under Roy Hodgson, Palace were heading in the wrong direction and they needed fresh ideas. Glasner can lift the place if Palace can finish the season strongly.

The Eagles jumped to 13th in the Premier League with that victory. However, the key for Palace here is to maintain consistency.

Next up for them is a trip to north London where they will be up against Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham. Spurs have got a nice two-week break, so the players will be fit and fresh for this derby game.

Spurs know they have to win this game and close the gap with Aston Villa. It will be interesting to see how they fare away from home under their new manager.
