Reading boss Ruben Selles is expecting a ‘very different team’ that Port Vale bring to Berkshire this evening under new manager Darren Moore.
The former West Brom and Huddersfield Town manager signed a five-and-a-half-year deal with Vale last week and took charge of his first match on Saturday, losing 3-2 to Cheltenham Town.
Due to play the side in January, while Andy Crosby was in charge, the match was abandoned after 16 minutes after fan protests against owner Dai Yongge.
Now below the Royals in the relegation zone, albeit with three games in hand, Selles was asked about the challenge Port Vale pose under the former Premier League defender.
“It is going to be a little bit different,” the Spaniard said. “Darren has a style with three defenders at the back and taking care of the ball in the build-up, trying to find the wing-backs higher and the two strikers so it will be a very different team.”
Speaking ahead of the match, Selles added: “For us every game is important. We have been able to compete against everyone so the fact that it is Port Vale and the game was postponed is not going to be a different approach to the one we had today [Saturday]. We are going to go there, try to win and be sure to prepare in the proper way.”
