In an attempt to compete, teams are completing their rosters as the playoffs get near. This also applies to the Bucks, who are attempting to recover from their recent setbacks. They have now agreed to a contract to add former Celtics forward Danilo Gallinari to the team, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

According to Charania, a number of teams expressed interest in Gallinari, including the Bulls, Cavaliers, and Clippers. However, he will now have the opportunity to play a part in the Bucks’ quest to win everything and return to the NBA Finals. Playing time for the 35-year-old will be possible under new Bucks coach Doc Rivers.

Gallinari originally signed with the Celtics during the 2022 offseason where he looked like he was the solid fit as a stretch big man. But he tore his ACL during a FIBA World Cup qualifier event, missing the entire 2022-23 season. While Gallinari was set to make his C’s debut, he was instead included in the Kristaps Porzingis deal with Washington, where he started the season.

Following that, Gallinari was moved from the Wizards to the Pistons, where he has appeared in 32 games while averaging 7.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest. There are still things he can do, and some of C’s supporters were hopeful he would return to Boston. But Gallinari seemed ready to play his now-former team, so minutes would be hard to come by with the Celtics.

Despite finishing 30-13, Adrian Griffin was fired by the Bucks. They have suffered ever since under Rivers, who has a 3-6 record in that time. With Gallinari maybe able to help, the Bucks will try to bounce back this time.
