The Celtic fans made their feelings clear towards the board against Aberdeen on Saturday after another transfer window to forget.

Back in the summer, many were left underwhelmed at the business Celtic conducted and it became worse in January when only one permanent signing arrived.

As a result of it all, the Celtic fans unveiled a banner at Pittodrie which read ‘Celtic board on your heads be it’, with Neil Lennon defending the powers that be at Parkhead as a result of that warning from the supporters.

The cries from the stands are that there isn’t enough ambition, but Neil Lennon was keen to point out ‘how do we know that Celtic haven’t tried to spend £10-12 million on a player,’ as he questioned on PLZ Soccer.

What’s interesting about this is that Brendan Rodgers has come out and asked for the club to ‘be braver’ when it comes to transfers amid the need to go to the next level.

All of this hasn’t been helped by the fact that the performances and results aren’t exactly improving, as was proven during Celtic’s dropped points at Aberdeen.

Either way, Neil Lennon’s comments might not sit well with some fans regarding the recent banner, as he tried to highlight the club winning the Treble under Ange Postecoglou last season.

“How do we know that Celtic haven’t tried to spend £10-12 million on a player,” said Lennon. “Or £15 million? Can we attract players of that quality, of that price to Scotland?

“What I am saying is that I am sure they have looked around for these types of players. They might not be available. They might not want to come. The fact that they are out of the Champions League, it might not be as appealing as it were at the start of the season as well.

“They have spent some money in the summer. I don’t know how many players they have brought in. Whether the fans think they are good enough or not is another thing. That’s then a matter of opinion and it has nothing to do with the board’s decision to spend the money or not.

“It has worked (project signings). Won the Treble last year. You’re not going to get them all right.”

Celtic on the pitch

Nobody can do anything now other than watch the results unfold for the rest of the campaign now, where the true answers will showcase itself.

That banner was more of a warning, more than anything else, if the title isn’t delivered, then the board will feel the heat and more!

As of this moment, Celtic are sitting top of the table, but Rangers are on a high themselves and feel that they can claim top spot if they win their game in hand.

This is the chance for the Bhoys to shut off that noise by, not only winning, but doing it convincingly.
