Enzo Maresca, the manager of Leicester City, underwent open heart surgery on his side in the summer after the team’s historic Premier League relegation the previous season.

Once the Italian took over, the Foxes lost a number of important players to injury at King Power Stadium, including Youri Tielemans, Timothy Castagne, James Maddison, Caglar Soyuncu, and Jonny Evans.

Meanwhile, the former Premier League champions brought in several new faces to help their bid to return to the top flight, such as Harry Winks, Stephy Mavididi, Mads Hermansen, Callum Doyle and Abdul Fatawu.

Leicester City have been completely revitalised on the pitch by the new man in the dugout and are currently on course to earn 110 points in the Championship this season, potentially beating Reading’s long-standing 105 points record from the 2005/06 campaign.

Furthermore, Maresca’s side are currently top of England’s second tier and are sitting seven points clear of second-place Ipswich Town, with a massive game still to come on Monday against the Tractor Boys.

With everything going smoothly, it looks as though Leicester City are primed and ready for another crack at the Premier League. However, there is still some baggage from the side’s last season in the top tier.

According to a report from Quotidiano Sportivo, via Sport Witness, Bologna have been left unimpressed with loanee Victor Kristiansen this season since the Danish fullback joined I Rossoblu on loan back in August.

Kristiansen moved to Leicester City in January 2023 for £17 million which is still a record transfer for a player leaving the Danish Superliga.

Nonetheless, the 21-year-old recently revealed in an interview that he was delighted with getting a loan move to Italy as he wasn’t too happy with Maresca’s idea to deploy him as a centre-back [quotes via Sport Witness]:

“I noticed (the position change) when we were at training camp this summer, but missed being part of the offensive game. So I was happy that we could jointly find a solution.”

According to Quotidiano Sportivo, Bologna manager Thiago Motta may decide not to exercise the player’s £12.9 million option-to-buy clause by the end of the season, which may mean a return for the £17 million player to the King Power Stadium.
